So we had an epic battery fail, and a missing camera lense so sorry it has been a while since we posted. All good now! Below are some of our adventures in New Jersey.....Glenn was battling a lethal dose of the man flu and a bad back so the boys and I had a day without adult supervision. No, we didn't get lost. No, the bank didn't ring about any large transactions in luxury good stores and, yes we still have both children!!!
We drove into Jersey and immediately left the freeway to check out the real Jersey, the rural parts. It was really beautiful but still waking up from winter
We then headed for Atlantic City and left Glenn to sleep off the cold and flu tablets and muscle relaxants! We wandered down to the famous boardwalk and, well, to be honest, froze our butts off. It was SO cold! We hit the arcades and spent $30 on tokens to win 1500 tickets which we exchanged for $3 worth of crappy toys. The boys are learning some tough lessons in economics!!! We all agreed that it was fun so maybe the experience was worth the expense.
Then we did the mandatory ride in a cane seat on wheels that some poor guy had to run along behind.
We posed for silly pictures in front of a very cool mural...
After convincing Will that a swim really wasn't a good idea when it's 5 degrees with a wind chill factor of minus 5, we took a wander along the boardwalk. After a few hours of checking out the district Glenn rang to say he was feeling better so we RV'd for hot chocolate and the most disgustingly huge cake volcano you have ever seen at the Rainforest Cafe, this crazy jungle themed restaurant that has to be seen to be believed - it was like being on the set of Jurrassic Park! The three boys made short work of it, much to my horror.
I made the boys walk it off along the boardwalk as the sun went down....
Before (with the salon in the background)....
After....the most glam I have felt all trip!
It was such a gorgeous salon and I got to meet some of the stars of the show! Didn't manage to get pics though, I got the distinct impression that since they weren't filming cameras weren't really kosher. It was a great experience though and a great blow wave!!! Not as big as expected but worth the trip all the same. You'd expect them to have put up their prices with the notoriety from the show but nope, it cost me $35 for a shampoo and blow wave and the owner threw in the product I'd chosen - big hair root mousse!!!
All in all a great trip to the Garden State, we loved it!
I love the blow wave. Big hair root mousse sounds like something you can eat - perhaps that cake the boys demolished had some in it!! It has turned cold here too. I am writing this in bed where I am still with with my new best friend - bug. I can't remember the last time I spent two days in bed not eating.
