The Concept!

The plan is to drive around America in an RV visiting as many cool exciting places and experiencing as much of the culture as possible in 6 weeks.
It would be nice to do it without getting lost!...Glenn
It would also be great if we could do it without a backseat driver!...Kate
... and if we could do it without killing each other or our children it would be even better.

New England...the beautiful....

So we went due north after leaving NY city and drove through upstate New York, Maine, Connecticut and Vermont....we did a quick stop at the premium outlet malls so I could touch base with 'my people' as Glenn calls them. Some bargains and a lot of people watching later I came home to this....and they say romance is dead!

Then we got serious about getting some miles and scenery under our belt. I was particularly excited to see this part of the USA as the design that hails from the region is some of my most favourite. Let's just say it didn't disappoint. The picturesque little towns and quaint farms were gorgeous. The only thing that would have enhanced it is if the trees had been covered in leaves, spring or autumn. The region is still freezing cold, single digits and negative wind chill. Oh, and if the background noise wasn't Glenn moaning about how annoying the petrol stations are here. You a) can't put more than $100 in at a time (half a tank for us) and b) can't buy LPG at a normal petrol station and c) can't pay at the pump without a local post code. We eventually went 8 miles off route to "Junior"'s joint which had closed petrol pumps but for cash the LPG worked. LPG is crucial for heating and cooking so we had to take our chances. The fourth point then became the theme of the next hour's conversation d) they are only allowed to fill it to 50% by law and it has to be done by an authorised "Propane Technician". Poor old Glenn was NOT happy!

After boring the kids with hours of beautiful scenery we stopped at the home of Ben and Jerry's icecream and did a tour and the boys had a mini Vermontosaurus....a POUND of icecream, topping, chunks of chocolate, cookie crumbles, nuts, you name it, it was on it. The full size Vermontosaurus has to be seen to be believed!

Yup, they ate it. All of it. In about 6 minutes.
Then we did a tour of the factory (no pics allowed due to strict ice cream making espionage regulations) and I picked up some tips to improve my icecream making.....Then we went outside to the baltic weather to check out the Flavours Graveyard and other cute icecream related things...

Next stop....CANADA!
